As a former educator of over 30 years, Tommy John knows what tools our young people need to succeed.Before his election to the Southampton Town Board in 2017, Tommy John has long been active member of local government since 2008, when he was first appointed to the North Haven Village Zoning Board of Appeals. In 2014 he was elected to the North Haven Village Board, and in 2016 he was appointed to the Southampton Town ZBA before his election to the Town Council in 2017. <h2>Tommy John Schiavoni is Working for the East End</h2>As a member of the New York State Assembly representing the First District, Tommy John's roots in education, plumbing and local government have proven that he has the skills needed to work with state and local leaders to support the economy and improve the quality of life on the East End.<img src="https://run.imgix.net/fad39424-c5f4-450d-9bc4-eb892f641b0f/486924a4-efe0-437c-bac8-f1cc0cd7895d/486924a4-efe0-437c-bac8-f1cc0cd7895d.jpg?ixlib=js-3.8.0&amp;bri=0&amp;con=0&amp;sat=0&amp;high=0&amp;shad=0&amp;usm=0&amp;rect=0%2C0%2C1448%2C965&amp;w=1500" alt="" caption="" align="left" alignwidth="40" tiltdirection="left" variant="framed">Eight bills penned by Schiavoni were signed into law by Governor Hochul, one of the most productive freshmen Assemblymembers in 2025. Assemblyman Schiavoni secured critical budget wins in the 2025-26 Fiscal Year State Budget, funding local non-profits, continuing service along the South Fork Commuter Connection and ensuring that A.4714, his bill providing mansion tax exemptions to non-profit organizations purchasing property for open space and historic preservation purposes, was included in late-stage budget negotiations.<img src="https://run.imgix.net/fad39424-c5f4-450d-9bc4-eb892f641b0f/83ddc2e0-1321-47a3-b3b2-5697b32de068/83ddc2e0-1321-47a3-b3b2-5697b32de068.jpg?ixlib=js-3.8.0&amp;bri=0&amp;con=0&amp;sat=0&amp;high=0&amp;shad=0&amp;usm=0&amp;rect=0%2C0%2C1856%2C2784&amp;w=1500" alt="" caption="" align="right" alignwidth="25" tiltdirection="right" variant="framed">Tommy John has continued to work with local officials, supporting the Community Preservation Fund (CPF) and the Community Housing Fund (CHF). He has worked hard with state and local partners to improve local&nbsp;transportation infrastructure such as our aging bridges and roads, and advocate for increased train service.During the summer months, Tommy John visited our local communities to meet with constituents during Mobile Office Hours in Westhampton Beach, Greenport, and Montauk. He traveled across the district to meet with community groups, school superintendents, and local leaders to better understand the issues facing our region.As the nation feels the effects of policies in Washington, Tommy John is dedicated to ensuring that the region's priorities are met. He will continue to work towards making the East End a more sustainable place to live while collaborating with his colleagues in the Assembly to improve the quality of life across the State of New York.
