Now, Tommy John Schiavoni is running for New York State Assembly to bring his pragmatic approach and deep experience to bear representing our community in Albany.
I love the East End, and I'm dedicated to preserving the essence of our community without being afraid of change where it's needed. I would be honored to put my experience to use serving East Enders in Albany, and that's why I am excited to announce my candidacy for the New York State Assembly, District 1.
Our community thrives on the incredible natural beauty and resources surrounding us - the ocean, bays and ponds that are the lifeblood of our region. In the Assembly I will be a strong advocate for improved water quality, clean energy and solutions for small businesses.
Affordable housing and community health issues like tick-borne illnesses, mental health and opioid addiction, which have touched us all too closely, will also be a significant part of my agenda. My efforts on the Sag Harbor Board of Education, which ranged from contract negotiation to advocacy for educational funding at the state level, reflect my belief as both a Dad and teacher that when we invest in our education system, our entire community benefits.
My background, deeply rooted in the East End and enriched by hands-on experience in the family business and public service, has equipped me with a practical understanding of our local needs and challenges. My years on the Southampton Town Board, coupled with my earlier experiences on the Town’s Zoning Board of Appeals and the North Haven Village Board, have given me a comprehensive view of how government works day-to-day, from managing budgets and infrastructure to responding to community needs during crises.
On the East End we value hard work, collaboration and a shared vision for a better future. It is in this spirit that I aim to continue the legacy of Assemblyman Fred Thiele, working tirelessly to represent our community in Albany. I would be honored to earn your vote.
